Thank you so much for your expertise.
Question 1: We just purchased a queen blue-dot nook platform bed (image attached) as a long term bed for our now 2 1/2 year old. As we continue to work on him sleeping better on his own, I think that it is likely that I will also be laying with him for part of the night. We purchased the queen so that he could use this long term and also so that we have an additional guest bedroom option.
The most important thing for me, however, is that it is an great mattress for him from toddler to kid and on. Natural materials are also very important for me (chemical free/no harmful substances). We can, luckily, afford to purchase an all latex mattress if that is what you recommend though want to be appropriate in what we spend
1b. Given the bed, do we need buy something to go in between the “pre-cambered ply slat system” and the mattress?
1c. Do you recommend any toppers or protectors since he is a toddler?
Question 2: My husband and I purchased a sleep to live 700 series 5 years ago (Tan/Green) for $2600 (wish I found your site earlier!!). Unfortunately, we hate this mattress and I have now had back pain most mornings waking up. As there is a ton of sag (despite me only weighting 115 lbs), I have not heard good stories about the ability to get the item replaced. Do you have any recommendations on a topper that might give us some more life to this mattress.
We we redo our bedroom, we will likely buy a new mattress for ourselves but I’d like to get more life out of this in a guest bedroom if possible).
Thank you again for your time and input. I rely appreciate it.
If you get a latex topper for your mattress, you’ll have better results by first flipping that mattress over, an then adding the latex topper.
Two inches of soft Talalay Latex is all you need. Shown here:

Also, check the boxspring that is under your mattress. slip your hand between the mattress and boxspring and push down.
If you can compress it easily, then start by putting a sheet of plywood over the boxspring.
An all natural latex mattress for your little one is the best you can do for everyone…no chemical off gassing and a very comfortable night’s sleep that will remain so for decades.
Latex is a bit more expensive initially, but less expensive long term, because it will not need replacing for an extremely long time…if ever.
If you are physically capable of handling a UPS delivery, our Ever-Eden latex mattresses are the best buy in all natural, chemical free latex.
My grandson has the 6″ model in twin. But with you sleeping on it and its later use as a guest bed, I would suggest the more comfortable 8″ or 9″ models.
You should not need anything between the mattress and the bed you bought. (Very attractive, btw.)

And yes, absolutely, on a waterproof mattress protector…for every mattress you buy.
Preventing perspiration of getting into the mattress will keep it fresh and lasting longer.
The mattress protector we recommend has been home tested by my wife and I. Unlike most, it’s all natural, sleeps cool, and doesn’t shrink when washed in hot water and dried on high heat.
Here is the link for that. Works as well on pillows too.
