My husband has chronic back pain that has kept him sleeping in a recliner for the past 4 years. We finally bought an adjustable bed but we share the adjustment. I have to sleep how he sleeps. I loved my flat bed, and never had a back problem. Since we have been sleeping in our new bed I’ve been waking up with a very sore back. Will my body get used to this new position that I’m sleep in? Will my back stop hurting soon?
It would depend on your age. The younger you are, the easier it is to adapt.
Logically, the best solution would have been to get him a twin-xl adjustable bed and keep a twin-xl flat bed for yourself. And, quite frankly, I don’t believe that an adjustable bed is a good option for back pain. It may be, over the mattress you had, but in general, a back will respond better to being kept in its proper alignment. This doesn’t happen on an adjustable bed base that isn’t kept flat….evidenced by what your back is telling you now. Separate bedrooms is always an option….and a good one for many.
