I have a queen mattress set by Stearns and Foster (Exeter) purchased in 1996. It still seems to be in extremely good condition with a little indention that would be characteristic with 20 years of daily use.
Our only complaint has been it was firmer than we would have liked, but we have used memory foam toppers over the years.
We are 70 years old and my husband has herniated discs and I too suffer from back pain. My husband weighs 215 and I weigh 170. My question:
With a new latex foam topper (never used latex) would I be able to extend the life of this mattress.
I feel it is made much better than anything I could buy today. If using a latex topper and considering the mattress is extra firm, what thickness and density would you recommend?
I want the support of the firmness in the mattress but would like to have the softness of the topper.
If you think it is time to replace the mattress what would you suggest for our condition?
We are not necessarily on a limited budget. I would appreciate your suggestions.
Thank you, Rita
You’re right when it comes to the quality difference between then and now.
A mattress you buy today, will need a latex topper….if for no other reason, then to extend the life.
So, buying a latex topper will definitely make your mattress more comfortable and put off the need for a new mattress.
But, unlike the memory foam toppers you’ve continually replaced, a latex topper will last for many years…and usable on your next new mattress, when that day comes.
The EverEden all natural 2″ Soft Talalay Latex Topper provides all the comfort you’ll want. These latex toppers are all natural latex and US made.
