Hi Mattress Expert,
So I live in northern British Columbia, Canada (Terrace, BC). I have been on your website today for a couple of hours.
I am just starting my research on mattresses and thought I might talk to my chiropractor as well for advice too. But, it appears only the Natura line is available to me. Am I right?
I am a side and stomach sleeper, much to the chagrin of my chiropractor. I have tried with no success to become a back sleeper.
I am 5’4 about 175 lbs. Have a chronically sore shoulder, but I insist on sleeping on it. I am curvy so need support on my side. I get lots of hip pain and nerve numbness.
I also have a lot of neck pain too. I am menopausal so have night sweats. I only sleep on average 5 – 6 hours a night. Anymore and I get so stiff, nerve numbness and sore neck.
I have arthritis developing throughout my body. I sound more like a wreck than I really am, but I ignore pain and keep going.
I was telling my husband (who I do not sleep with due to night sweating, and too much movement and noise for my liking).
All that said, I think a new mattress or topper could tip the scale and I might stop avoiding going to bed! There you go, I am looking for a miracle or at least a partial one.
Oh right, I got bags over and under my eyes! Not enough sleep, so says my Dr., but really, sleeping is getting more and more uncomfortable. Help!
I have a regular spring form queen sized mattress that is quite firm, not much give. I have a 1″ memory foam that is poorly fitting and I think is pretty much past its date. I paid $100.00 for it a few years ago.
My head is swimming with all the testimonies and being in Canada, I am not sure what to purchase….topper, shield, etc. I also need a good pillow to prevent my neck strain.
Also, I notice that you seem to recommend the 2″ topper more than the 3″ topper. I am confused which I should get. I do not like getting overheated, but like being dry and comfortable.
Gosh, advice, what products you recommend and available for Canadian shipping, a price list, an estimate of the total to include currency exchange rate, and any other costs would be great.
I have a bone spur in my shoulder and a hip that, likely, needs to be replaced. Luckily for me, they are both on my left side.
I have a Natura Greenspring ultra plush and a 2″ soft latex topper on it. The bed is very comfortable and supportive.
But, when I lay on my left side, the pain in my hip and shoulder becomes rather intense.
The point of the story is that a mattress is not going to fix any of your physical damage.
The best we can do is to make you as comfortable as possible.
It would be helpful to you, if you were to develop sleeping positions that didn’t aggravate your shoulder.
It’s a cinch that no matter what else, you will need a soft latex topper. So, I suggest we start there.
You might want to lose your memory foam topper, as it causes people to sleep hot, and it doesn’t sound like you need any help in that area.
A new mattress may or may not be necessary, so lets add a latex topper to what you have.
If that works, then you’ve saved the cost of a new mattress.
Here is a link to the toppers.
Of the two on that page, the Ultra Luxury is the most popular.
If you do end up needing a mattress, I suggest the same one we use at home…the Natura Greenspring Liberty Ultra Plush
The individually pocketed coil unit contours to you, which helps to relieve pressure points.
The best pillow that I’ve found that does a great job of relieving chronic neck pain, is the Pure Talalay Bliss Latex/Down.It’s made of 100% latex that is finely chopped. It behaves like a down pillow, in that you can manipulate it to fit around your head and neck.
Unlike a down pillow, it will last for years.
