I got the Vytex latex sample, you sent me, and gave it a full week test had no health/allergy issues.
I think I would need a “medium/soft”.
Which mattresses would you recommend?
Also, how do I return your sample so you can help others?
Glad to hear it. Even though you are allergic to latex, I had a hunch that this would not affect you, negatively.
We have plenty of samples, so I won’t need that one returned.
Take that latex sample, slip it into a pillowcase, and use it on a chair you’d like to be softer.
We had a long conversation, last week, but I don’t recall if we discussed your size.
So, please, tell me your height and weight…age…physical ailments…and what you’re sleeping on now, and what you like and/or don’t like about it.
About my old broken self….already at a young age.
I am by every definition disabled at age 58 😨I have “shrunk” from 5’10 to a shortened 5’8″ I bounce my weight between 140-155 lbs- depending what I’m healing from.
My physical issues are: (get ready-you can’t make this stuff up)
* I have severe osteoporosis (currently healing from a broken foot and cracked tibia) every bone takes about twice as long as a regular bone
* severe arthritis
* Fibromyalgia – a misunderstood pain disorder (all nerve endings over-react to stimulus)
* I’ve broken two bones in my lower back- the bones healed-but they sit on top of each other-the disks were destroyed-so I have bad lower back issues
* Life-threatening allergies: worst being molds, fungus, corn, grasses, trees, and “pure” latex…although, I did great, no reactions to the sample you sent me.
* because of my neck issues-I sleep with a prescribed cervical neck pillow
* I’ve had 4 knee surgeries, 9 neck procedures – (23 total surgeries over all of me over my lifetime-I am a doctor’s dream)
The good news about me is I’m very kind and honest, my brain works except for the times I forget to proof-read, or my computer decides to auto-correct my typing.
Current Mattress: a king size, Serta pillow top mattress on double set box springs on a frame.
What I first liked for the first 2 years of owning a pillow top Serta:
When the Serta was new-it felt soft when you first laid down on it-but it had a very good “soft -firmness” (if there is such a thing)for laying on over hours of sleep-as it did not allow any pressure points to be generated…a good thing so my arthritis, back pain and fibromyalgia didn’t flare as bad while I slept.
THE BAD (now)
The Serta is like a rock hard canoe. There is no “pillow” feeling survives-just sunken shape rock. Also, I need to downsize to a queen mattress because I can no longer handle the size of a king size mattress.
Our bed is a “no food” zone and because of my allergy issues. I have always used really high quality mattress covers-which are cleaned as often as directed and replaced about once a year due to my non-tolerance of allergens.
I think I’ve included all the points you asked about. Let me know if you need any more info.
Because of my fibromyalgia….I am very sensitive to over-heating…
My current Serta makes me COOK. I overheat so bad that we often sleep with a fan going, or a window open even when it is -8 degrees outside and snowing. (Don’t worry about my husband-he could sleep on a pile of rocks, or a bed of feathers.)
I don’t need a bed that “cools” but rather one that doesn’t get hotter than a normal human. I seldom get too cold when sleeping-but overheating is a big issue….. (not due to hormones and hot-flashes, or medications…those years are ancient history.) Sorry if this is too much info.-but sleep IS a very personal existence….for around 3/4 of our life time.😴
Good Morning, Janet.
The mattress I’m recommending for you is the Simmons Beautyrest World Class Santorini in Luxury Firm…shown here:

Add to that, the EverEden 2″ Soft Vytex Dunlop Latex Topper…shown here:

Together, they will feel, very much, like your Serta when new…but remain so for many years.
The big difference being that it will sleep cool, while your Serta slept hot.
And, don’t forget to protect it with a waterproof mattress protector.
The best I’ve ever come across is made by Danican. It, too, sleeps cool.

For your chronic neck pain, there’s no pillow better than the PureBliss Latex/Down...made of finely chopped latex, you can manipulate it around you head and neck, like you can with a down pillow.
The major difference is that latex doesn’t flatten out the way a down pillow does. The Latex/Down pillow lasts for years….the 2nd pillow listed on this webpage:
