Sealy Posturepedic Plush Mattress Sinks Causing Lower Back Pain.

Hi Pete,

I have had a Sealy Posturepedic plush mattress for less than a month, and I feel that my hips sink in too much and when I wake I have lower back pain.

My prior mattress was too firm and old and I felt shoulder and hip pain throughout the night and it would wake me up.

Also, I have a platform bed so don’t need a box spring.

I am a 140 lb. side sleeper–just me in the bed.

What would you suggest?

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Hi Christine,

Sealy cheapened their line by quite a bit after Tempurpedic bought them in 2013…which is their current line. More memory foam is why you have that sinking in feeling… and why your back hurts.

I suggest a combination of items. First, the Simmons Beautyrest Platinum Sandy Springs in Luxury Firm and a 2″ Soft Talalay Latex topper to go with it.

The firm, contouring support of the individually pocketed Beautyrest coils will maintain the natural alignment of your spine.

The comfort of the latex topper is extraordinary and very long lasting. The latex topper will insulate you from the memory foam in the mattress, and absorb all of your body weight,

so that the mattress will last a lot longer than the manufacturer intended.

In fact, I suggest getting the latex topper first and using it with the Sealy mattress you already have. It could, very well solve your problem.

If so, you’ve saved the cost of a new mattress. If not, you know which mattress to get.

Here are links to both items.

Either the EverEden or Pure Bliss in 2″ Soft Talalay
