Sealy Posturepedic Dynasty Plush Hotel Mattress.

Kat writes:
Hi Pete,
I’ve slept on a Sealy Posturpedic Dynasty Plush mattress in a hotel.
It’s the best mattress I’ve slept on.  I am 5’6″ and weigh 132 lbs.
I liked the mattress so much that I removed the covers to see what make and model it was.
The Dynasty CSS Plush was perfect.
I noticed it was from 2007 so then I wondered about the 11 year break-in period.
I need a new mattress.  My husband likes a softer mattress while I like a semi-firm.
Thanks, Kat
Hi Kat,
Sealy is now owned by Tempurpedic.
Everything they make today is upholstered with memory foam.
There was no memory foam in that 2007 Posturepedic.
Memory foam is the only temperature sensitive upholstery material used.
It softens as it warms from your body heat…allowing you to sink into the mattress.
Despite the sales hype and sales pitches, it’s the worst upholstery material ever invented….designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing.
Memory foam sleeps hot and is comprised of toxic chemicals.
It off gasses these toxic chemicals, causing a health hazard to every living being in your home…attacking your respiratory system.
As if it’s lousy performance wasn’t bad enough.
Here is a link to an old fashioned two sided mattress that uses the same upholstery as in that older Sealy Posturepedic.
The Brooklyn Plush model is the most comfortable of the 3.
It has more of a medium plush feel.
Here is a link to that mattress.
Old Fashioned made Two Sided Mattress that you can flip. Strong coil unit and NO Memory Foam. Durable for Plus Sized People. Works with Adjustable Bed Bases.
FedEx Delivery is Free and there’s no sales tax.
Thanks, Pete
Hi Pete,
Thank you for such a quick response!
You are right about Tempurpedic.
I bought a Tempurpedic and it was awful after sleeping on it for one night.
It was too HOT.
Then, I bought a Medium Talalay mattress, thinking it would be cooler and it’s been alright but after several years, it’s not working so well.  I sink.
Sleeping on the Sealy Dynasty Plush while on a trip last week was the best sleep I’ve had in years.
I’m thinking it’s the coils since I grew up sleeping on a “real” mattress.
I noticed you responded to one person, Ruth, from last summer and suggested the Tulah for her so I was set to get the Luxury Firm but the Brooklyn is what you’re suggested for me.
Can you please compare the two, Tulah and Brooklyn,  for me?
I would love to get something.  I think I will be sleeping in my chair for the time.
I have a BAD back, with scoliosis so I tend to go towards the Firm but I still like the softness with the support underneath.
Maybe that’s why I liked the Dynasty CCS Plush so much.
I was ready to buy it from the hotel. Ha!  I wish!
Again, thank you for your help!

Hi Kat,
There’s no point in buying from the hotel.
What they send you will not be the same as that 2007 Posturepedic.
These days, you have to be careful of the latex you buy.
Latex has made a comeback. The renewed interest has been due to the memory foam.
Pure All Natural Latex has been available since the 1920s.
But now, there are those making a cheapened version…latex imported from China, where they add clay as filler.
Still advertised as natural latex because clay is natural.
This cheapens the quality and the longevity.
The latex we carry is not from China and has no fillers.
High quality latex is and has been the best upholstery material since the 1920s.
The Tulah Firm uses an interlocking coil unit…and is quite firm.
The Tulah Luxury Firm and the Brooklyn use an individually pocketed coil unit.
This type of unit contours to the shape of the body and maintains the natural alignment of the spine.
The Brooklyn model has the feel you described as your preference.
The Tulah Luxury Firm is firmer.
If you decide on one of the Tulah models, and later wish it to be softer at the surface, you can do so with an EverEden Pure All Natural Talalay Latex Topper.

Soften the surface of a too firm mattress. Insulate yourself from the memory foam in your mattress to Sleep Cool. Extend the comfort life of your mattress.

Thanks, Pete

That’s Great, Pete!
That helps quite a lot and I appreciate your expertise.
I need the middle so that would be Brooklyn.
I use an EverEden Pure All Natural Talalay Latex Topper on the air mattress when my brother comes to visit.  He has no complaints. 🙂
I just don’t want to sink in like I do with the mattress.
Buying a mattress is harder than buying a house or car!
Thanks again for your help, Kat
Happy to be of help, Kat.
I suggest using a waterproof mattress protector with every mattress.
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will greatly extend the life and loft of the upholstery materials inside. Ours sleep cool and make NO Noise.
