AARP Online Mattress Buying Story.

Andrea writes:
Hi There,
I’m a writer with AARP, The Magazine.
I’m working on a story about online mattress buying, and in my research I came across your blog.
I was wondering if you would be able to offer any kind of insight on this growing industry?
Thanks, Andrea
Hi Andrea,
These days, it’s more about the pitfalls.
You have to, first, be aware that memory foam is thee component to avoid.
It’s specific purpose is to wear quickly and need frequent replacing.
Besides being a lousy product, it’s also a health hazard, in most cases.
Containing 61 different chemicals, it off gasses the toxic chemicals from which it’s made. Those toxic fumes attack your respiratory system.
Older people, who have relied on the trusted name brands over the years, need to know that they’ve all been sold to investors.
They all use memory foam as a means of recouping their investment and turning a profit.
The name brands can no longer be trusted. The quality they once had, is no more.
When you see a product that is heavily advertised, be aware that those ads cost millions of dollars. As a result, they are way over priced..
The high prices do not reflect quality. The high prices are to recover the money spent advertising.
It’s also important to note that Consumer Reports can not be counted on to help.
CR published an issue a few years ago, where they stated that the mattress industry was far to complex for them to comprehend…offering no recommendations.
They should have stayed with that, because they still don’t understand it.
They must have gotten some flack for their bit of honesty.
6 months later, they interviewed 100 people in Denver and offered recommendations based on those interviews.
Since then, they acquired the machines that had been used for decades, to test the durability of mattresses.
These machines pound and roll over the mattress…supposedly simulating 15 years of use. Their current recommendations are based on those tests.
Their conclusions are all wrong, because of the memory foam.
Memory foam is now 20 years old.
It is a temperature sensitive material…the only upholstery material that is.
As it warms from your body heat, it softens and allows you to sink into it.
With all their testing, CR is not applying heat.
Their conclusions continue to be incorrect.
They are highly recommending some of the worst mattresses on the market.

I suggest using a waterproof mattress protector with every mattress.
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will greatly extend the life and loft of the upholstery materials inside. Ours sleep cool and make NO Noise.
