Natura of Canada Greenspring is an Individually Pocketed Coil, Upholstered with Latex.

Peter writes:
Hello Pete,
As you well know it’s frustrating to¬†buy a new mattress in the mainstream brick &¬†mortar stores.
The emergence of on-line buying¬†has exploded, and is generally cheaper, but you¬†“buy blind”, so to speak.¬†
Of course, the return option is there, but who wants to go through that?
I have an old king-size hybrid Kingsdowne¬†previously purchased at what was once called¬†Sleepy’s.¬†
In the last few years and despite a prior natural¬†latex mattress I sprung for (“Bliss” from Sleepy’s)¬†being way too firm…I got a 2″ latex TOPPER from¬†
you folks to soften up a Twin EL Simmons Beautyrest that was too firm itself.
It does a decent job¬†of keeping the pain at bay on my pressure points¬†and I know it’s clean.¬†
Of course, now every retailer is making sure to let us consumers know that their bedding products are CertiPur- US certified.
The evolution of mattresses in the mainstream market seems discouraging to me.
The hybrids do not include latex anymore, generally speaking.
I have never heard of a latex and pocketed coils option in all my searching. Have you?
The major companies seemed to have gravitated towards innerspring and gel-infused memory foam.
Except for plant-based¬†memory foam I just don’t trust this synthetic to be¬†a reliable material to allow me to sleep atop the bed¬†and sleep cool.¬†
Some of the literature now shows that gel infusion starts out cool, but heats up from the transfer of body heat.
At least 10% of reviewers¬†on “Sleep Like the Dead” are not happy with this…
So Pete, what to do? My ideal bed might not exist.
The combination of pocketed coils and dense foam (not memory foam) certified chemical free could be the ticket.
And, then there’s the question of going all¬†latex, but it’s so heavy.¬†
I need approximately 6.5 (medium-firm) on the firmness scale with no pillowtop.
I do not want sinkage and I do want to be cool and have easy repositioning.
Durability is a great feature of latex, right? Again, the weight of an all latex mattress could be an issue as I live in a second floor apartment.
Thanks for your time and attention.
No rush to respond, but I would like to get your input about the options out there and more specifically for me based on the information I provided.
By the way, I am a multi-positional sleeper, but primarily on my stomach.
Have a great weekend! Peace, Peter¬† 😊

Hi Peter,

Welcome Back!

With all of the name brands being sold to investors and all their mattresses upholstered with memory foam, you’re looking at an industry that is looking to maximize sales and profits at the expense of the consumer.

Memory foam is highly deceptive…feeling comfortable when trying it at stores…and not feeling the same within a couple of months after delivery.

Memory foam is specifically designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing, as all support and comfort is lost within a couple of years.

The diabolical part of memory foam is that, even after having lost it’s support and comfort,¬† it returns to it’s original shape when you get out of bed….

…or close enough to it, that you will not likely prevail in a warranty claim…as it will not measure the 1.5″ sustained impression needed to get authorization to exchange.

As you noted, latex is the best…and has always been so, for the last 100 years.

But, as you also noted, an all latex mattress is very heavy.

At home, we sleep on a mattress made in Canada….an individually pocketed coil unit, upholstered with latex and containing¬†NO Memory Foam.

The coils are precompressed and the steel from which they are made, is double tempered.

The coil unit contours to the shape of the body, which maintains the natural alignment of the spine.

And, the latex upholstery is extremely comfortable.

There are 4 models in the Natura of Canada Greenspring line, with the Ultra Plush model being the most comfortable of them.

That line, shown here:

Greenspring Liberty Firm Euro Top Experience deeper, more restorative sleep with the Liberty Firm Euro Mattress. Lush helpings of natural ingredients come together with a foam encased coil unit to gratify your hunger for luxury, affordability and eco-integrity.

White Glove Delivery is Free, which includes set-up of the new and removal of the old mattress.

Thanks, Pete
