Replacing a 2008 Stearns and Foster Plaza Terrace Room Rest Mattress.

Hi Pete,

I have been researching replacing a 2008 Stearns and Foster Plaza Terrace Room Rest mattress, that we have been very happy with.

After a few unsuccessful visits to local mattress stores and finding your website I’m realizing this is not going to be an easy process.
I have read a lot of the stories on your website and I like the way you make your recommendations. My only concern would be buying such an expensive item without physically laying down on it. I’m hoping you can make some recommendations based on the mattress we have?
Let me know what additional information you need and hopefully you can help figure this out.
Thanks, Dennis

Hi Dennis,

It’s a good thing that you didn’t buy one. The difference in quality, between today’s S&F and the one you last purchased, is like the difference between night and day. We used to be a Sealy/S&F retailer. When Tempurpedic bought them and loaded them memory foam, we stopped selling them. Memory foam is the absolute worst upholstery material ever invented.

All of the name brands have been sold. Another investment group bought Serta and Simmons. It’s now all about profit and not about quality. Memory foam is purposefully designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing. The result is selling more mattresses more frequently to the same people.
Since the one you have is so well made, and if all you need is a bit more comfort, then adding a latex topper will do that job for a lot less than the cost of a new mattress. If this is your situation, a Latex Topper will give your mattress several more years of life.

We recommend the EverEden Pure All Natural 2” Soft Talalay Latex Topper. Shown here:https://themattressexpert.com/talalay-dunlop-latextoppers/

100% All Natural Talalay and Dunlop Latex Mattress Toppers. | The Mattress Expert100% All-Natural Vytex Dunlop Latex Mattress Toppers. Ever-Eden’s Vytex Dunlop is, virtually, Allergen Free. And while the Vytex Dunlop comes in the same 2 choices of comfort levels, Dunlop is a more dense material and does not have as supple a feel as the Talalay Latex Toppers.themattressexpert.com

If you feel a new mattress is what you need, then I recommend the one my wife and I sleep on at home.
The Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush Mattress.Their entire line, shown here:https://themattressexpert.com/natura-greenspring-pocketed-coil-mattresses/

Natura of Canada Greenspring Pocketed Coil and Latex Mattresses | The Mattress ExpertThe Liberta Firm Mattress delivers improved well being and scrumptious comfort with eco-friendly flair. A layer of NaturaWool™ maintains temperature control and gently buffers pressure points to diminish nighttime tossing and turning.themattressexpert.com

This was the best I could find, while shopping the trade shows for high quality alternatives to what the name brands are now offering. The individually pocketed coils contour to the shape of the body, maintaining the natural alignment of the spine. The upholstery is natural Talalay Latex.
The steel from which the coils are made, is double tempered.Latex is and has been the best upholstery material for the last 100 years.Because the components of these mattresses are of such high quality, they are all a bit firmer feeling than they sound. The Ultra Plush model is their most comfortable…and in no way can be considered too soft.
Ours is more than 3 years old and still, in like new condition…and that’s with each of us in the 225 lb. range. Support, comfort and longevity…all excellent.
