Hi Pete,
We have a 3 yr old Sleep Number bed .. the real deal with Leggett/Platt adjustable bases…2 twin long to make a king size.
We are both too heavy .. me 200, hubby 250. We both have back pain and arthritis.
He prefers very firm (setting 100) and found the sleep number okay to start with.
But now, we have the valleys with the mountain between.
I like a medium firm (setting 70), but if it’s too hard my arms go to sleep.
I would like your suggestion on a latex topper for each of us.
There is a memory foam ‘topper’ inside the mattresses.
We can unzip it and I would consider putting the latex in and removing the memory foam one.
Suggestions, advice very needed and welcomed.
Thank you, Sally
Hi Sally,
Your problem is caused, partly, by the memory foam.
Replace it with latex and your situation will be better.
But frankly, it’s a band-aid for a problem than is more serious than you think it is.
A Sleep Number Bed provides no support. Displacement is not support.
The whole concept of an air mattress is just as bad as a waterbed was.
Here is a link to our latex toppers. But, you should consider a conventional mattress.

Delivery is free and there’s no sales tax.
Thanks, Pete
