Hi Pete,
I an elderly woman and have, recently, moved into an assisted living facility.
I had to leave my old, wonderfully comfortable king size mattress.
Without much money to spend, I bought a memory foam mattress, at the salesman’s recommendation.
I’ve had this mattress for less than a month. It is too soft and causing me a lot of back pain.
My question is, what can I do about this…keeping in mind that money is an issue.
Near as I can tell, adding a firm latex topper might help.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks, Lillian
Hi Lillian,
Memory foam mattresses have memory foam on top, only.
The memory foam is supported by high density polyurethane foam.
Despite being made and sold as a one sided mattress, you can flip that mattress over and sleep on the poly foam.
You’ll find the underside to be much firmer than the top side.
Get an aid to do that for you. Do Not attempt to flip the mattress, yourself.
Once flipped, the question then becomes a matter of degree of firmness.
If you find it too firm, you can add whatever you already own to soften it…like a comforter.
If you’re good with the feel, you can sleep well without spending another dime.
If you find it to be too firm, you can then add a Pure Bliss 2″ or 3″ Plush Natural Talalay Latex Topper.

VERY IMPORTANT:
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will increase longevity.
Use our Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector.
Thanks, Pete
