Hi Diana,
First thing, flip that mattress over.
It’s all latex, and the latex on the bottom is firmer than the latex on top.
Adding a firm latex topper will not help you.
A body requires firm support and a comfortable sleeping surface.
What you suggest will give you the opposite of what your body needs.
However, that you have had back pain all along, that tells me you bought the wrong mattress.
Latex is the best of all the foams available.
Even so, no all foam mattress provides the pushback support a damaged spine requires.
I suggest a pre-compressed, individually pocketed coil mattress that is upholstered with latex.
I found all this to be true, as you are now learning….the hard way.
I have lots of disc related back problems.
Being a large man, I had purchased an all latex mattress…only to find that my back pain persisted.
I now have the mattress that I’m now recommending for you.
We’ve had this mattress for 4 years. We are, both, heavy people. The mattress is still in like new condition.
What’s more, I sleep and wake without any back pain…despite the herniated, bulging and degenerating discs in my back.
Here is a link to that line of mattresses. We have the Ultra Plush model.
My wife is a big girl, a side sleeper, and with a sensitive hip.
For her, we added a soft latex topper.
I suggest trying flipping the mattress you already own first…as it costs nothing to try.
You might want to add the topper you have to that, as the underside should be quite firm.
VERY IMPORTANT:
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will increase longevity.
Use our Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector.

Thanks, Pete
