We had been a Sealy/Stearns & Foster retailer for many years.
in 2013, Tempurpedic bought both and loaded everything they make with memory foam.
Memory foam is specifically designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing.
Almost over night, S&F went from being “The Cadillac of the Industry” to nothing more than expensive junk.
(in case you’re wondering what went wrong).
Avoiding mattresses upholstered with memory foam is the key to a successful purchase.
All of the name brands were sold, at about that same time.
An investment group purchased both, Simmons and Serta….also loading their mattresses with memory foam.
We stopped selling those brands, when Tempurpedic acquired them.
That sent us to the trade shows, to find quality alternatives.
Hotels, as you might imagine, pitched a fit…with having so many mattresses that suddenly needed to be replaced a lot sooner than they had been used to.
So, both, Sealy and Simmons are making mattresses for hotels the old way…without memory foam.
Those are upholstered with polyurethane foam, which was the primary upholstery material used from the early 1970s, until several years ago.
They wear well, but can only be purchased through hotel guest services….not available at retail stores.
Latex made it’s mattress debut in the 1920s….and has always been the best upholstery material on the planet.
Today, there are a variety of latexes available. The only kind to avoid, is latex made in China.
The Chinese use fillers to make it cheaper. The price isn’t the only thing cheapened.
Chinese made latex doesn’t wear nearly as well as latex made in the US, Europe, or Sri-Lanka.
The Wolf Mattress uses synthetic latex.
Synthetic latex was developed in England, about 20 years ago…a molecular clone of natural latex.
It is a little less expensive than natural latex and wears nearly as well.
Wolf is the oldest mattress manufacturer in the country that has been continually owned and operated by the same family…The Wolf Family…est. 1873.
Beth Wolf is incharge of the office, while her husband runs the factory operations.
I’ve been selling their mattresses for several years, now…with no complaints thus far.
At your sizes, the Adara model is all you need…shown here:

Value for the dollar is better than with any other brand.
At the high end, which will include white glove delivery and removal of your old mattress, is Natura of Canada.
Their Greenspring mattresses use Natural Talalay Latex, and have a higher coil count.
While the better mattress, (The one we sleep on at home), it really is more mattress than you need.
Of their 4 models, the Ultra Plush is the most comfortable, without being too soft.

You’ll delight in the comfort of natural wool, latex and plant-based foam while you enjoy the support of our 5-zoned coil unit.

Both mattresses use the same type of coil system used in the Simmons Beautyrest.
So, the contouring support that maintains the natural alignment of your spine, is the same.
However, the coils from both, Wolf and Natura, are stronger…made of double tempered steel.
The coils in the Simmons Beautyrest are made of raw steel…not tempered, at all.
