Currently have the metal frame, wood header/footer, serta boxspring and pillow top mattress. All 25 yrs old. New configuration planned is to keep the boxspring, add new firm innerspring {no pillow top), then 2 in latex soft.
Question1: Should the 25 yr old boxspring be replaced while doing this (no knowledge if its failed)?
Question2: Will the height of the new configuration be OK for the sheet fit?

Hi Derek,
Hanging on to a 25 year old boxspring is a mistake.
You’ll save little and risk much.
Any mattress you use with a boxspring that old, will wear prematurely.
The warranty of any mattress you buy, to use with that boxspring, will be void immediately.
The Simmons Beautyrest must have a latex topper to keep it from wearing out within only a few years.
There is a better quality mattress that does not require a latex topper to keep it from wearing out quickly.
