Disney Hotel Mattress.

Charles writes:
Hi Pete,
I’m looking to see how I can buy the mattress that they have at the Disney Hotels.
I believe it is a Simmons Beautyrest. I’m not sure about that. It could be a Sealy Posturepedic.
Anyway, it was a very comfortable few night’s sleep, that I’d like to replicate at home.
Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.
Thank, Charles
Hi Charles,
The only way to buy that mattress, is through the hotel.
Both, Simmons and Sealy make mattresses for hotels differently from those they make for retail stores.
At retail stores, all the mattresses are upholstered with memory foam.
The mattresses they make for hotels have no memory foam in them.

There are 3 types of upholstery used in mattresses, today.
The most prevalent is memory foam…a very poor quality product.
All of the name brands have been sold to investors.
Memory foam, designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing, is how they have turned what used to be a quality product into one that is highly profitable.
Memory foam is the only upholstery material that is temperature sensitive.
It softens as it warms from your body heat, then reflects that heat back to you.
It’s not very resilient to begin with, and doesn’t take long before it loses the little resiliency it has.
The truly diabolical thing about memory foam is that it returns when you get out of bed. It takes a 1.5” sustained impression to prevail in a warranty claim.
When the memory foam returns, it’s highly unlikely to reach that needed threshold.
So, no exchange…you have to buy new.
Memory foam is the thing to avoid, if you are to have any hope of a long term, successful purchase.
Since the 1970s, until recently, polyurethane foam was the primary foam used.
Polyurethane is was Simmons and Sealy use in the mattresses they make for hotels.
The problem with buying from a hotel, is the expense.
You’ll pay a premium for an average quality hotel mattress…much more than it’s worth.
But at least, you get a good number of years out of it.
(You’d be lucky to get 2 years from a mattress upholstered with memory foam)
The best upholstery material is and always has been latex…since the 1920s.
I have 3 lines of mattresses for you to consider…good, better, best.
All of the mattresses in those three lines have better specifications than a hotel grade mattress.
First, is an old fashioned two sided mattress that you can flip.
This mattress is available plush both sides, firm both sides, or plush one side firm on the other side.
Shown here:
Second, is a one sided mattress upholstered with poly and/or latex. (2 models)

Both mattresses are made by The Wolf Corp….the oldest mattress manufacturer in the country that has been continuously owned and operated by the same family.
The patriarch of the Wolf family established this company in 1873.
Third, the mattress my wife and I sleep on, at home.
Natura of Canada Greenspring has 4 models, with the Ultra Plush being the most comfortable.
The Ultra Plush model is the one we have at home.
The quality of each of the components is very high.
Shown here:
My wife and I are large people, each over 200 lbs.
After the 4.5 years we’ve had this mattress, it’s still, in like new condition.
The mattresses from the two Wolf links, arrive via FedEx.
The Natura mattress comes with white glove delivery.
White Glove Delivery includes removal of your old mattress and set up of the new.
Regardless of your choice, delivery is free and there’s no sales tax.
VERY IMPORTANT:
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will increase longevity.
Use our Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector.

Thanks, Pete
