Lower Back, Shoulder and Neck Pain on a Nectar Memory Foam Mattress.

Suzanne writes:
Hi Pete,

I bought a Nectar Bed, (first memory foam mattress I ever bought).
I understood that I would need an adjustment period.
At first, thought it was great, but I am having low back pain.
I have been sleeping in sleeping bag on floor to ease the discomfort.
Thoughts on a bed for relieving low back, shoulder and neck pain?
Thank you, Suzanne
Hi Suzanne,

Like so many before you, who have purchased a memory foam mattress, only to find out too late that memory foam is a poor quality upholstery material, offering poor quality support and comfort.
With all the advertising and hype about memory foam, it’s promoted as the best thing since sliced bread.
Memory foam is, in fact, the worst upholstery material ever invented….feeling great, initially…as you noted, only to need to be replaced before long.
Memory foam is temperature sensitive…softening as it warms from your body heat.
Once softened, the heavier parts of your body sink too far, throwing off your body’s natural alignment.
THIS, is why everything hurts.
My advice to you, as it has been to many, flip that mattress over.
The underside is not memory foam. It’s a much firmer foam that is not temperature sensitive.
Your back pain will subside.
Use your sleeping bag on top to make it comfortable, until you can replace it with a latex topper.
We recommend the Pure Bliss 3″ Plush Natural Talalay Latex Topper for long term comfort.

Shipping is free and there’s no sales tax.
We recommend using a waterproof mattress protector with every mattress.
Keeping the upholstery materials clean and dry will extend the life of the mattress.

Thanks, Pete
