My 2 Year Old Son’s First Big Boy Mattress.

Natalie writes:
Hi Pete,
I need a mattress for my son’s first big boy bed. He’s 2 and climbing out of his crib.
I bought one of those cribs that converts to a twin size, so I only need a mattress.
I’m a single mother with limited income, so it can’t be expensive, but it has to be good quality.
I’ve been doing research online, which is where I found your blog.
I know I’m asking the right person. What do you recommend?
Thanks, Natalie
Hi Natalie,
Thank you for that compliment.
The people who raised me, my father and my grandfather, also knew the value of quality.
It’s much less expensive to buy a quality product, than it costs to buy cheap and continually replace it.
That’s true of anything, including mattresses.
However, this industry preys on consumers who have the notion that, “If it’s more expensive, it must be better”.
Nothing could be further from the truth. You can spend tons of money on junk mattresses, these days.
We carry and old fashioned two sided mattress, without any of the memory foam that causes mattresses to need frequent replacing. Not only is memory foam a poor quality product, in most cases it’s also a health hazard…off gassing the toxic chemicals from which it’s made.
You, certainly, don’t want to expose your little one to any mattress upholstered with memory foam.
The Wolf Brolynn is the mattress I’m recommending.
It’s available in Firm, Plush or Duo Comfort. The Duo Comfort is firm on one side and plush on the other side.
This is the choice you should consider for your son.
Use it with the firm side up for the next few years. Once in school, flip it to the plush side.
Initially, the firm side will aid in his developing bones and muscles.
The plush side will help with him retaining the information he’ll need to remember from his schooling.
And, you’ll be very pleased with the price.
Here’s a link to that mattress:

Shipping is free and there’s no sales tax.
We recommend using a waterproof mattress protector with every mattress.
Keeping the upholstery materials clean and dry will extend the life of the mattress.

Thanks, Pete
