Hi Pete,
We need help!
We currently sleep on a 15-year-old Tempurpedic mattress that is literally painful for both of us!
I have back pain and arthritis and my partner has bilateral hip bursitis pain and stiffness from Parkinson’s.
I’m 5’6″, 110lbs, he’s 6’1″ 200lbs.
I’m most comfortable on our old guest bed, an older Simmons Beautyrest Shoreview Plush with a simple mattress pad. Unfortunately, the bed is too small for both of us.
We’re in the market for a new mattress and wonder what you might recommend.
Is there a Simmons Beautyrest mattress you’d recommend, with or without a latex topper?
And do you ship to Vermont?
Thank you, Betsy
Hi Betsy,
Today’s Simmons Beautyrest mattresses are upholstered with the same memory foam used in your Tempurpedic.
And, their coils are made of raw, non-tempered steel.
Neither of these components are long lived under a 200 pounder.
The thing that makes a Beautyrest so comfortable is the individually pocketed coils.
I’m recommending a mattress that also uses an individually pocketed coil unit, with coils made of double tempered steel for durability.
There is no memory foam in this mattress. Latex and poly foams are used.

Both mattresses on this page are durable enough for a large person.
The Tulah model has a more comfortable sleeping surface, which makes it the better choice for a slender female.
Your current foundation has no give and shouldn’t need to be replaced.
Shipping is free and there’s no sales tax.
We recommend using a waterproof mattress protector with every mattress.
Keeping the upholstery materials clean and dry will extend the life of the mattress.
Thanks, Pete
