Feedback on the Wolf Tulah Plush Eurotop Mattress from March, 2020.

Kristen writes:

Hi Pete,

In March 2020, I contacted you for advice about purchasing a mattress.
I ended up going with the Wolf Tulah Plush Eurotop mattress that you recommended.
Wolf Tulah Latex Hybrid Mattress
I wanted to spend some time with it before sharing some feedback about it. Maybe you can use it for your blog. 🙂

We have been using the mattress for nearly 1 year now, and we really love it.
I was impressed with how well it delivered on all the criteria I had been searching for, so I wanted to share.

My Husband’s Back Pain:
ZERO complaints about back pain since sleeping the Wolf Tulah Plush Eurotop!
The only time he has back problems now, is when he DOESN’T sleep on the Wolf mattress.
It has made a huge difference for him.

Me Being a Light Sleeper:
Guess what? Now that my husband isn’t tossing and turning all night from his back pain, I can sleep!
Even when he does move, the springs absorb the motion VERY well.
I do not wake up in the middle of the night anymore from motion transfer.
I notice the difference immediately, when we visit someplace that has a cheaper style innerspring mattress.
Then, I’m back to being woken up at every movement.

Back sleeping, side sleeping, no problem.
I also really love the reinforced edges. It makes a big difference!
I never feel like I’m rolling off the bed and I can sit on the edge if I want to.
My first impression, when opening the package, was, “What a beautiful mattress!”.
It is strange to enjoy changing the sheets because I get to see my pretty mattress each time!

There are only 2 drawbacks I have, which are no big deal when you consider how outstanding the rest I get.
1) The sleep is great, but I found it hard to actually FALL asleep on the large, thick quilting pattern of the eurotop.
I could feel the “valleys” in the quilting where the stitching is (if that makes sense?) and that was weird to me.
I never got used to it, so I got a very lightweight Tencel mattress topper with a smaller quilting pattern.
That added the perfect amount of smoothing texture to the eurotop without overdoing the cushion factor.
The result, no more issues falling asleep.
2) It’s a bit “springier” than I’m used to.
So, I’d be interested to try out the firmer option and add more cushion to the top separately.
I do love how responsive and quiet the springs are.

For the base, I went with a 14 inch Zinus SmartBase metal platform.
We have limited storage and a tiny bedroom, so I had to maximize our storage while minimizing the footprint.
The Zinus base is tall enough to store a closet’s worth of stuff underneath, while keeping the mattress at the perfect height for us, (we are 5’5″ and 5’7″).
The base has rounded corners so I don’t bang my shins, and inset legs so I don’t stub my toes.
I noticed that because the base is so tall, it adds the slightest amount of motion transfer compared to when we had it on a sturdy box spring. But we’re okay with the tradeoff for extra storage. 🙂

I am now considering getting another Wolf mattress for a different room, so wondering if I should try out the Adara Plush Tight Top if it’s less springy. What do you think?

Thank you again for sharing your expertise.
It was really worth taking your advice and giving the online purchase a chance.
I was easily able to modify the feel of it with a mattress pad to get it just right.
I might be ready for my next Wolf mattress purchase!

Sincerely, Kristen

Hi Kristen,

Thank you, so much, for taking the time to send me such a detailed account of your experience with us and your Wolf mattress.
It pleases me to no end, to know that our advice and recommended product has resulted in you and your husband sleeping so well and without pain.
Regarding your concerns, you’ll note that my emails and blog posts end in a signature that recommends using a waterproof mattress protector.
Not only do these mattress protectors prevent moisture from seeping into the mattress, they also provide a smoother sleeping surface.
Since you’ve expressed a desire to experiment with a mattress that is less plush than the Tulah,
the Wolf Adara Plush is the logical choice.
The extra inch of latex in the Adara model, instead of the inch of poly foam in the Tulah model will give you the feel you’re looking for, without changing any of the components that you like so much in the Tulah.
They are the same mattress, except for the small change in upholstery materials.
Here is a link to those mattresses.
And just like the last time, shipping is free and there’s no sales tax.

Thanks, Pete

VERY IMPORTANT:
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will increase its longevity.
We recommend our Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector.
