Hi Paul,
Your concern about a hinged mattress is no longer valid.
That is to say, most if not all of today’s mattresses no longer use a border wire.
It would have been the border wire that needed to be hinged.
Today’s mattresses are designed to work with adjustable bed bases.
The mattress I’m recommending for you is the Wolf Pocketed coil/Latex Hybrid.
As back sleepers, I’d think you’d enjoy the Adara model over the Tulah, which is a little bit softer at the surface.
However, if either of you spend any time sleeping on your side, the Tulah is the better choice.
