Every time he moves, I move and I spend the whole night playing climb the mountain to get back to my side.

Hi Amy,
“Firm”, for you, is more than a preference, it’s a necessity.
However, we can make dealing with that a whole lot more comfortable.
First off, there isn’t a soft mattress made that will hold his weight for long…making buying one, a total and continual waste of money.
The mattress needs to be firm just to support his size.
Softening the surface of a firm mattress without sacrificing the benefit of that firm support, is easy to do. What’s more, the solution is a long term one.
I carry a very well made, firm, two-sided mattress that you can flip. This will add to the longevity.
Top that with a 2″ layer of soft latex foam, which is the polar opposite of memory foam.
Comparing latex, which has been thee absolute best upholstery material for the last 100 years, to memory foam, that has proven itself to be the absolute worst material ever invented over its 20 year history,
