There are a number of solutions. And, as with most anything else, some work better than others.
If all that is wrong with your mattress is that it’s too firm, there’s a long term solution that doesn’t include buying a new mattress.
You can add a soft latex topper to the surface of your mattress to get what you want for a whole lot less than the cost of a new mattress. It will do a fine job of providing the surface comfort you need.
