Great question!
My wife and I travel with a 2” soft latex topper in queen size, which can also be used across a king size mattress.
If all you need is to make yourself comfortable, then all you need is a twin size.
We fold ours in thirds, roll it up tight and cinch it with a belt…easy to carry & pack.
