Hello Pete,
I recently went through a very expensive six-month mold remediation on our home.
I just purchased three expensive EOS natural latex mattresses from Naturepedic.
I thought this would be a great nontoxic mattress for me and my family.
However, upon doing some research, I have stumbled across some websites where customers have purchased similar nontoxic natural latex beds, only for them to discover they have molded over time.
Now I am terrified! I have many health issues because of mold.
I do not want to go down that road again because of a mattress.
I know you recommend and sell latex on your site.
What are your thoughts, concerns, and experience with natural latex mattresses and mold?
I am very confused and not sure what I should do. Your expert opinion would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you, Meisha
Hi Meisha,
I hear about mold forming in memory quite often, but not latex.
That’s not to say it can’t happen.
You need moisture for mold to form.
Memory foam sleeps hot, causing a person to perspire. Latex doesn’t sleep hot.
All a person needs to prevent mold from forming is a waterproof mattress protector.
This will keep the mattress dry. When kept dry, no mold will form.
Thanks, Pete
