Hi Pete,
I stumbled across your site while searching for information and specs for a new mattress purchase.
I’m wondering if my general description will be enough for you to point me in the right direction.
My wife and I bought a Simmons Beautyrest mattress from a local retailer in 2007.
It was a queen that cost about $2k, maybe a little more.
But it was worth it to find something strong/firm enough that supported my weight but soft enough so that it didn’t cause my wife’s hip to go to sleep.
The mattress was a pillow top over coils in individual pockets with a high count.
The bed was perfect for 6-7 years until the it developed body impressions that made it uncomfortable.
We’ve been searching for a mattress ever since, hoping to find something that was as comfortable as that mattress at the beginning.
Now we’re searching for a King, maybe split as Twin XLs with similar construction to this mattress.
Something medium with a pillow top over individually pocketed innerspring coils to limit motion transfer.
I’m about 225 lbs, average height, and my wife is average to petite height and weight.
We’ve been burned on our last two mattresses so I’m shy to pull the trigger on something that doesn’t have a good guarantee or return policy.
Thanks in advance!
Karl
Good Morning Karl,
For the past 20 years, this industry has gotten you used to a guarantee of comfort.
The quality has continually lessened, which requires a hook to sell these poor quality mattresses. That “hook” being a comfort guarantee and return policy.
Prior to that, no hook was needed due to the high quality of the components.
Memory foam is the component that has made the “hook” necessary.
Memory foam is specifically designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing.
It sleeps hot and off gasses the toxic chemicals from which memory foam is made.
Memory foam is, by far, the worst upholstery material ever invented.
That Simmons mattress you bought was so expensive because you bought it at the highest priced retailer in the country. Their prices are a reflection of the inordinate amount of advertising they do.
You’re going to have to be a more savvy shopper if you have any hope of making a successful purchase…as opposed to be led by advertising.
All of the name brands have been sold.
The new owners are using that crappy memory foam upholstery in order to sell more mattresses more frequently to the same people…as opposed to when they were made of high quality components that lasted 10 – 20 years.
What makes a Beautyrest so comfortable is the individually pocketed coil system.
So that’s what you want and without memory foam.
Of all the upholstery materials available, latex foam is and has been the best for the past 100 years.
My recommendation is for the same mattress my wife and I sleep on at home.
The Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush.
We’ve had our mattress 8 years and it’s still in like new condition, with each of us weighing more than 200 lbs.
The upholstery is natural Talalay Latex.
The coil count is higher than in any Simmons Beautyrest and the coils are stronger.
Making this purchase will require a leap of faith, on your part.
We don’t subscribe to this industry’s shenanigans.
We offer quality with no gimmicks.

Delivery is free.
This mattress takes about 4 weeks to arrive.
There’s no chance of getting something that someone else has used and returned.
You’d be surprised to learn how often that happens when you buy a return policy instead of a high quality mattress.
Thanks, Pete
