Hi Pete,
I need a new mattress. I’m a side sleeper, like a firm bed, and I’m allergic to latex.
Thanks, Teresa
Hi Teresa,
People who are allergic to latex gloves and bandages are not usually allergic to latex foam. The latex foam process removes almost all of the protein, (the naturally present allergen in latex), during processing…rendering it hypoallergenic.
And then the latex is covered and you’ll add a mattress protector and sheets.
Since the allergic reaction to latex is topical, your skin never touches the latex.
That said, the Brolynn Old Fashioned Two Sided Mattress in Plush is my recommendation.
The individually pocketed coils are made of heavy gauge double tempered steel.
The contouring support is quite firm.
The upholstery is natural, plant based polyurethane foam.
It’s a comfortable mattress without being too soft.
There is no latex and no memory foam in this mattress.
There are no VOCs or chemical off gassing to worry about.
This is a high quality, long lasting mattress.

Using an old box spring to support any new mattress will cause premature wear and void the manufacturer’s warranty.
A waterproof mattress protector will extend the life of a mattress by keeping the upholstery materials clean and dry.
